Holiday Bonanzas for travelers

  • International Travel and Tourism Expo, India Travel Mart, opens today.
  • Punjabis are greatest travelers: Tourism Malaysia

The 14th edition of the international travel and tourism exhibition, India Travel Mart (ITM), opened today at Himachal Bhawan in the city.
The exhibition is open from 21st to 23rd February, and provides an insight into the exciting tourist destinations around the country.
Garba dancers at Gujarat Tourism Pavilion
Chandigarh and Panjab are the best markets for outbound travel since north Indians are known for their outgoing nature, explore new places, and visit new tourist destinations, said Mr Ajay Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of India Travel Mart (ITM).
Mr. Achinto Bose of Tourism Malaysia, which is the partner country in the expo said that a new airline Malindo Air has started daily flight from Delhi to Kuala Lumpur which costs much less and a three-nights/four-days package would cost anything between Rs.30,000 to 35,000.
Rajasthan pavilion
In Rajasthan, people are preferring a hitherto unknown destination near Madhya Pradesh Border, Kurli which is being developed as a heritage town and is famous for Karladevi Temple. Ranthambore sanctuary near Swai Madhopur is another popular destination in the state, informed Ajit Singh, Assistant Director with Rajasthan Tourism. He said that packages booked during the ITM are being offered at 20 percent discount.
Uttrakhand is hosting the International Yoga Festival from 1-7 March 2014 at Rishikesh and the organizers are offering 25 percent discount on their super-deluxe and deluxe packages of Rs.39,000 and Rs.25,000 respectively which include pick-and-drop, accommodation, food, river rafting, yoga festival registration etc.
Himachal Tourism
The State Partner Gujarat Tourism had Garba dancers who regaled the visitors with their dandiya performances and audio-visual documentaries on its varied locations.
The pavilions of Rajasthan and Goa were visual treat with their traditional motifs and architectural highlights.
Goa Tourism
 Participating organizations include Tourism Malaysia, Gujarat Tourism, Rajasthan Tourism,  Bihar Tourism, Maharashtra Tourism, Kerala Tourism, Uttarakhand Tourism, Himachal Tourism, Madhya Pradesh Tourism, Goa Tourism, Indian Railway Catering Tourism and Corporation (IRCTC), Make My Trip, Welcome Heritage, Country Inn, East Bourne Resorts, Surya Vilas, Pride Group, Institute of Tourism & Future Management Trends (ITFT), and many more.
The entry to expo is free which will be open from 11am till 7pm
