Say No to Surrogate Advertising

After successfully achieving the Smoke-Free City status for Chandigarh, it is time to regulate the surrogate advertising. In a panel discussion at the Press Club today, the social activist Hemant Goswami of Burning Brain Society, Pallav Mukherjee, Municipal Councillor, Man Mohan Singh Kohli of Hotel Aroma & President, Tourism Promotion Society of Chandigarh, Capt Balwant Gurunay, a management trainer, and Renuka Salwan, Deputy Director BIS and chairperson of PRSI Chandigarh Chapter, decided to send a memorandum to the key people in the Ministry of I&B, to deglamorise the consumption of liquor and tobacco, by regulating the blatant use of surrogate advertising. ASCI bans Surrogate Advertising
ASCI has recently issued the strictures to various liquor companies to desist from surrogate advertising. Possibly this is the result of the recommendations forwarded to ASCI by PRSI Chandigarh Chapter.
